A project of the Aktives Museum – Faschismus und Widerstand in Berlin e.V., expanded for Dresden by the Förderkreis Alter Leipziger Bahnhof.
On October 28, 1938, the German Reich forcibly expelled around 17,000 Jewish men and women of Polish nationality to Poland. The victims had often lived in Germany for several decades and lost their entire economic and social existence overnight as a result of their deportation.
The touring exhibition “Expelled! 28 October 1938. The History of the ‘Polenaktion’” is the first exhibition to tell the story of the deportations in October 1938, shedding light on a chapter of Nazi persecution that is still little known today.
For Dresden, the exhibition, which was organized by the Aktives Museum – Faschismus und Widerstand in Berlin e.V., was supplemented by a regional introduction and local biographies.
