As part of the exhibition “Jewish Realities”, Alexander Estis and Tatjana Davis present an evening that blends words and sound, prose and poetry, seriousness and satire, tradition and experimentation: Tatjana Davis masterfully performs on the clarinet, covering a spectrum from classical to klezmer, enriched by loop variations, improvisations, and her own compositions, while Alexander Estis reads from his language-acrobatic satires (including selections from the book *Am Anfang war Schmonzes*) and poems.

The artists:

Alexander Estis, born in 1986 into a Jewish family of artists in Moscow, is a writer. He contributes, among others, to DIE ZEIT, Süddeutsche Zeitung and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. His most recent book, Am Anfang war Schmonzes. Jüdische Satiren (In the Beginning Was Schmonzes: Jewish Satires), was published by SATYR. He has received several awards, including the Kurt Tucholsky Prize.

Tatjana Davis studied clarinet and piano in Dresden and works as a freelance musician. As a founding member of the performance group Youkalí, she composes and arranges stage productions featuring musical settings of poems by Mascha Kaléko and Lili Grün. She is currently working on musical settings of poetry by Alexander Estis as well as on a musical adaptation of Daniela Dröscher’s novel Lies About My Mother (Lügen über meine Mutter), together with Elisabeth Köstner (book and direction).
In addition, she published her »Piano Workbook – Dein Weg zu intuitivem KlavierSPIEL« in 2023, followed by a clarinet ensemble book in 2025.
