Event container set up on the grounds of the Old Leipzig Train Station

The Förderkreis Alter Leipziger Bahnhof has set up an event container—provided by the City of Dresden—on the forecourt of the Old Leipzig Train Station. This was made possible thanks to numerous volunteers over the past week. Special thanks go to the Dresden chapter of the THW, which transported the containers from a municipal fire department warehouse as part of a training exercise. Over the coming months, the container will be gradually refurbished and renovated. The surrounding green space will also first be cleared of weeds and gradually made usable.

Experimental Space and Temporary Memorial Site

The Förderkreis plans to use the container as an experimental space in the future and to “test” the memorial and meeting place at the Old Leipzig Train Station on a small scale until its actual completion in the near future. To this end, events, workshops, and regular meetings are planned. In the medium term, the container will also provide space for an inaugural exhibition on the history of deportations in Saxony.
