The Förderkreis Alter Leipziger Bahnhof brings together people committed to preserving the memory of the victims of National Socialism, fostering critical engagement with Nazi history and antisemitism in Dresden, and making Jewish culture a living experience. Alongside the three Jewish communities in Dresden, our network includes civic initiatives, activists, and individuals from across the city. We would be happy for you to join us.

Through our work, we seek to support and advance the City of Dresden’s plans to establish a memorial and meeting place at the former railway station known as the “Alter Leipziger Bahnhof” in a spirit of solidarity and critical reflection. To this end, we have organized a series of events under the title REMEMBER – EDUCATE – COMMEMORATE with the financial support of the Dresden-Neustadt District Council. We are also currently preparing an exhibition on the so-called “Polish Action” (“Polenaktion”) of 1938, which is scheduled to open in autumn 2024.

A key focus of our work is the conceptual development project that we are carrying out on behalf of the City of Dresden. Its aim is to further refine our vision for a memorial and meeting place and to help bring it into being.

With the founding of the non-profit association “Gedenkort Alter Leipziger Bahnhof e. V.” in November 2023, we established a formal organizational structure for our work (here you can find our statutes and membership fees in German as PDF documents). However, you do not have to be a member of the association to get involved — committed individuals are always welcome. We would, of course, also be very grateful if you chose to become a supporting member or make a donation to help support our work financially.
