Who we are.
The Förderkreis Alter Leipziger Bahnhof brings together a group of people who are committed to keep alive the memory of the victims of National Socialism and the debate about Nazi history and anti-Semitism in Dresden, as well as to make Jewish culture a living experience. In addition to the three Jewish communities in Dresden, our network includes civic activists and individuals from Dresden. We are happy, if you like to join us!
With our work we want to support and push forward the plan of the city of Dresden to establish a memorial and meeting place at the former train station called “Alter Leipziger Bahnhof” in a spirit of solidarity and critical engagement. To this end, we have been organizing a series of events under the title REMEMBER – EDUCATE – COMMEMORATE with the financial support of the Dresden-Neustadt district council. We are also currently organizing an exhibition on the so-called “Polish Action” of 1938, which we plan to open in the fall of 2024.

A key focus of our work is also the conceptual project that we are carrying out on behalf of the city of Dresden, with the aim of specifying our vision for a memorial and meeting place and working towards its realization.
With the founding of the non-profit association ‘Gedenkort Alter Leipziger Bahnhof e. V.’ in November 2023, we have given ourselves a legal form (here you can read the pdf of our statutes and take a look at the membership fees, both in German). However, you do not have to be a member of the association to work with us; committed people are always welcome. Of course, we would also be happy, if you become a supporting member or make a donation to the association to support our work financially.
